Family History

Although very experienced at simple online genealogy, working on births, marriages, and deaths, my real expertise is in records relating to land, looking at records which can shed light on relationships, give proof of line of descent, and then give a huge amount of background information on the lives and characters of ancestors.

These records include

  • wills
  • deeds
  • maps
  • manorial records
  • Chancery records which can be the most interesting of all, often starting with "my great grandfather" and reciting the entire family for 4 or even 5 generations.  .

With an entire working life of experience on researching family history professionally for clients, there are probably few types of record which I have not worked with, both in local archives and at the National Archives
